Industrial Roof Renovation in Lancaster – A Successful 9 Week Project

At Ironclad Coatings Limited, we recently completed a major industrial roof renovation project on an industrial estate in Lancaster, using HD Sharman's Delcote 25 roof coating system.

The project presented several challenges, including a busy car park and steeply pitched roofs. Despite these obstacles, our experienced team of five operatives successfully completed the works in just nine weeks.

The project involved renovating the roofs of an industrial estate in Lancaster, providing a protective coating system designed to extend the service life of the existing roofing.

Rather than replacing the roofs, the renovation approach offered a practical way to protect the existing structures and improve their long-term durability.

For this project, the client selected HD Sharman's Delcote 25, a specialist roof coating system designed for the refurbishment and protection of industrial metal roofs. We also treated the Roof Lights with HD Sharmans Delglaze. 

The Challenges: A Busy Car Park and Steep Roof Pitches

Every industrial roofing project presents its own challenges, and this Lancaster project was no exception.

1. Working around a busy car park

One of the main challenges was carrying out the renovation while managing the risks associated with a busy car park.

With vehicles and people regularly moving around the industrial estate, careful planning and coordination were essential.

Our team had to consider the surrounding environment throughout the project, ensuring the works could progress while minimising disruption to the estate's daily activities.

2. Working on steeply pitched roofs

The second major challenge was the steep pitch of the roofs.

Steep industrial roofs require particular attention to working-at-height safety, access arrangements and the practicalities of applying a consistent coating.
